Spookyworld/Nightmare New England

Halloween is only 6 days away! This week head to America's Horror Scream Park- Spookyworld Nightmare New England at Mel's Funway Park in Litchfield, New Hampshire. This terrifying theme park will be open this Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and on Sunday for Halloween. Don't miss out on seven acclaimed haunted attractions all at one location!

The attractions are: The Catacombs, The Colony, Torment, Raven's Claw, House of Eternal Darkness, Freak Show 3-D, and Sleep Stalkers. Food and Beverages are available at stands throughout the park. But beware of the freakish characters roaming around.

Waiting in lines to enter the Haunted Houses can be very long, but Spookyworld has a team of frightening characters that provide entertainment while you wait. While in line, these characters walk up to people and directly interact with the audience. Although none of the actors are allowed to touch you, they can get very close to your face, come up behind you, and even start calling you by name (if they hear whoever your with state your name). Their main goal is to scare people and keep the crowd involved. If you're lucky, you may even be able convince one of them to pose for a picture with you. As displayed on the left, I took a picture with a creepy clown with sharpened teeth! Glow stick necklaces were thrown out into the crowd, along with black and orange beach balls for game of volleyball which gets started up throughout the people in the packed lines. A man will come by and make announcements from time to time offering people to upgrade their ticket to the VIP package, which includes a significantly shorter wait period to get in the attractions.

Getting There: On flyers, it says 45 minutes north of Boston, but make sure to allow yourself extra time no matter which direction you are coming from. This is an extremely popular event and you may experience some traffic closer to the exit. Remember to get directions from MapQuest if you do not have a GPS. In case you get lost, pull into the Mobil Station nearby which has courteously written down directions and made copies for patrons. This paper definitely helps out a great deal. It states: Take a left out of the Mobil parking lot, then a right at the first light- Litchfield Rd. Then follow Litchfield Rd. to the end. At the end of Litchfield Rd., take a left. Spookyworld is a 1/2 mile on right.

Parking: As you first drive up, you will notice a lot priced at $10 to park. If you keep going, there is a closer lot that only costs $5 to park, AND the proceeds go to Children's Hospital in Boston. So, if you can get a spot in there, you will not only be paying less and parking closer, but you will be giving back to the community.

Tickets: General Admission for Sunday-Thursday is $29.99. For Friday & Saturdays, General Admission tickets are: $34.99. VIP Admission for Sunday-Thursday is $49.99 and $59.99 for Friday & Saturdays.
VIP Admission includes: UNLIMITED ACCESS to all seven haunted attractions, access to shorter lines and the ability to warm up in front of the VIP-only fire pit. Also, you receive a wristband that grants you access to unlimited go-kart rides, 18-hole mini golf, and the batting cages.

Ticket booth sales begin at 6pm and close at 10:30pm on weeknights, and 11pm on Fridays & Saturdays. You can also order your tickets online. Don't forget to visit your local Dunkin' Donuts or D'Angelo's for $5 off admission coupons. Text 1031 to 70259 to receive a $7 off coupon code which can be used when purchasing tickets online.

Make sure to arrive early and dress in layers!!! Even if it is not cold when you are leaving your house, believe me the temperature will drop at night. It is a good idea to bring gloves as well since all lines and parts of the attractions are outdoors. As long as you're dressed warm, the attractions are definitely worth the wait. Be prepared to be SCARED!
