Beanpot 2011 - four universities fighting for the championship

Indeed, the academic quality and density is high in the Northeast. Alone Boston has got over 33 colleges and universities which are competing with each others all the time. But these students are not only academically outstanding.

On February 7 and 14, four of the best universities show that they also have a talent for sport. You know what I`m getting at.

Known as "Boston`s social event of the winter season", the Beanpot 2011 is taking place soon. Harvard is playing versus Northeastern and Boston University versus Boston College on February 7. The final game is on February 14.

Get your tickets now to see how sporty our students really are. Right now, you can still get some good deals for this famous annual tournament at TD Garden.

Cooking for a Cause

As Thanksgiving approaches, we all find ourselves making plans with family and friends. We attend traditional parades and football games and other ceremonial activities before the big meal. Our mouths begin to drool over the thought of the delicious smells and tastes of turkey, stuffing, pies, and endless other treats.

However, a lot of us tend to take this great holiday for granted. There are numerous families and individuals who do not have the pleasure in taking part in the Thanksgiving tradition. Some simply do not have the funds necessary to feed themselves and their families, while others do not have any place to go.

Since the Thanksgiving itself was born here in Massachusetts, the state has done a terrific job by having several charities across the state that help those in need during the holiday times. Here in and around the city, the restaurant chain Tavern in the Square, is offering a free Thanksgiving meal to senior citizens, the homeless, and families that have no other place to go from 11:30-2 on Thursday, November 25th

The staff at these restaurants cannot offer such a terrific feast alone. They are asking you for help! Whether you would like to donate time, money, or food, all are highly appreciated. Volunteering is always an enjoyable time, and will truly make one appreciate the smaller things that we may take for granted during every day circumstances.

Entertainment at Fire and Ice

This week, we checked out Fire and Ice in Downtown Boston for you. You´ll see an amazing entertaining show by the cook chefs: this restaurant cooks your food in front of your eyes. Watch our video to get a first impression of this place.

How it works: Go to the marketplace which offers a broad choice of food. Create your own food in an interactive environment. Choose your desired sauce. Go to the grill in the middle of the dining room and watch how it will be cooked in front of your eyes.

Since you can choose all your vegetables, meat, fish and other food separately, this restaurant is also very appropriate for vegetarians, vegans and people with other nutritional or dietary needs.

The food was really delicious. Especially in a group it´s really nice to go there. You´ll switch your neighbors all the time and will have nice conversations and fun by walking around to choose your food. This place is definitely tasty and very entertaining.

An insider tip: Every monday is student night and students pay only $9.95 if they show their valid college ID.

This restaurant is also located in Boston, Cambridge and Providence in New England. Find your closest restaurant, take your friends and check it out.

Comedic Relief

By Wednesdays we're all usually pretty tired, and are trying to get over the hump of the week. Take the night off and check out my friends and some other hilarious comics perform at ImprovBoston, located in Cambridge's Central Square. There are shows going on every night of the week, but Wednesdays are special because new talented acts are showcased. And hey, if you're enjoying yourself and want to laugh even more, stay for the late night performance at 10pm where comedians perform..well.. nude.
