No, I did not create this clever name for the twist on the classic holiday story. Fortunately for us, The Slutcracker, was created for some Yule-tide fun to get adults into the holiday spirit. Playing at The Somerville Theatre, in Davis Sq (Somerville), the Slutcracker combines the art of burlesque, comedic relief, and holiday cheer into a fun filled night of dancing, beauty, and laughs.
Located right outside of the Red Line (T Stop: Davis Sq/Tufts University), this historic theatre is known for its unique shows, movies, and performances. Like more conventional theatres, there is a concession stand, but in addition beer and ice cream are offered! Tickets to the Slutcracker are a mere $20, and can (and should) be bought online. Last year, tickets sold out for the entire month very quickly. After the rave reviews throughout town, I recommend purchasing your tickets ASAP if you would like to enjoy this event. The girls will be performing throughout the evening hours from Dec 3rd-24th.
So, take a night off from shopping and worrying about the holidays and enjoy some funny, beautiful, and talented girls' spin on this holiday classic.

That's funny :-) I just planned to go to the classic nutcracker at Boston Opera House. But this is also worth seeing I guess.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely an unconventional take on the story, but see both and revel in the different interpretations!
ReplyDeleteThis is a "don't miss" kinda of show...The troupe is off to Montreal for a run after Xmas...Love those Slutcrackers, especially the hoopers!
ReplyDeleteI just came back from the Slutcracker. It is a very entertaining and amusing show. I enjoyed most the performances and great choreographies perfectly matching the music.
