Project Bread's annual Walk for Hunger is this Sunday, May 6th in Boston. Each year over 40,000 walkers partake in this fun event, which represents a great cause. Walkers can pledge make a personal pledge per mile and also ask family members, friends & neighbors to sponsor them. All donations go towards Project Bread's efforts to ultimately end hunger in Massachusetts.
The walk has a rolling start time between 7:00-9:00 am and begins at the Boston Common. The walk-route is 20 miles in total, but don't be discouraged by the length..you can choose to walk just a few miles - every bit helps! I will be walking my 10th consecutive walk this Sunday and highly recommend it! It's a fun, rewarding experience and not to mention a great form of exercise. This Sunday's weather forecast of 60 degrees and sunny makes for perfect walking weather. So grab comfy walking shoes and bring and extra pair of socks (to avoid blistering) and head down to Boston Common this Sunday morning. See you there!
Project Bread is dedicated to alleviating, preventing, and ultimately ending hunger in Massachusetts.

Basically Boston is Back!
Basically Boston began as a group project in our Social Media Marketing class a few semesters ago. This blog has gone beyond a typical class project (once completed, you never work on again). Each of us has missed contributing to this blog and have decided to start it back up again! We hope you all will be excited about this as we are. We look forward to having you back as readers and anticipate that you will enjoy our content to come.
Since we’ve posted last, we have all been extremely busy finishing up school, earning our degrees, finding jobs, and taking the next step in our lives.
Christina is working for an investment fund manager based in Boston that is focused on creating social impact in emerging markets. She is also working towards her MBA at UMass Boston. Her office is located in a cool coworking space in the Leather District that helps her stay tuned in to the latest trends and coolest events in the area. You can find her on the Orange Line any day of the week.

Meghan is working as an account executive dealing with advertising at Phoenix Media Communications Group (i.e. The Boston Phoenix, STUFF magazine, and WFNX FM). The job is amazing and keeps her very, very busy! Her office is right next to Fenway Park, one of, if not the, staple of being in Boston. On the weekends you can still find her working as a waitress in the theater district, so feel free to stop by for some food or cocktails!
Jennifer is working as a marketing & sales assistant at a venture-backed software start-up focused on streamlining data loss incident response. Her office has recently relocated to Alewife, a part of Cambridge - just north of Boston. Working for a start-up, Jennifer wears many hats and has been given the role of office manager as well. She is learning a great deal about the early stages of a business and has had the opportunity to be a part of the company’s growth. You can occasionally find her in the North End, indulging in some world-famous italian food on the weekends.

Lauren is now working for a Health and Wellness Company in the North Shore. She loves her job as it varies from day to day and she is learning ALL that goes into making a business run. She is now also dedicating her time weekly as a Big Sister to a great kid and finds that very rewarding. She loves spending time with her 1 year old Bernese Mountain dog, Duke, who takes up a lot of her free time! She stlll loves being with friends and exploring the city where she feels you can always find something new to see and do!
Karin, who was studying abroad in Boston when we started the blog, has returned to Germany to complete her masters degree in management. Besides, she is working as a research assistant and tutor for marketing. Although she has since traveled to Australia, she still misses her time and friends in Boston and hopes to return soon and make retrospect contributions when she can!
We are happy to be back and hope you'll stay tuned for all the latest happenings in Boston.

Fanueil Hall Marketplace Tree Lighting Ceremony 2011
Since so many people are finding this blog through last year's announcement, we decided we should give you the update for this year!
It's back! The tree in Faneuil Hall will light up this Saturday, November 19th. Find out all of the details about the event here. Entertainment goes on all day and Mayor Menino will flip the switch at 5pm (because yes, it is now dark long before then). Best part, it's free! Maybe get started on your Christmas shopping too if you're like me and want to avoid the Black Friday rush.
Do you think it's OK to light the tree before Thanksgiving?

Are you a Warrior?
Consider yourself a true Warrior? There's only one way to find out and the Warrior Dash is the absolute only way. It takes place all over the country but is happening here in New England on the 25th and 26th of June. The race consists of a 3 mile run from hell where you encounter a magnitude of extreme obstacles. Leap over fire, scramble under barbed wire and tread through muddy mayhem all while sporting your most ridiculous costume, or not....
And this is not all that occurs at this crazy event. Make sure you hang around for some food, beer and music after your chaotic run....After all a true warrior must be rewarded in some way for his race through hell.
Hey, can you think of a better way of finishing up the weekend?!?! Due to the popularity of this event you need get on the bandwagon and sign up now. There are only about 300 spots left for 3pm on Sunday the 26th.
The race takes place in Amesbury, Ma. Just 35 miles north of the Bean.

Beanpot 2011 - four universities fighting for the championship
Indeed, the academic quality and density is high in the Northeast. Alone Boston has got over 33 colleges and universities which are competing with each others all the time. But these students are not only academically outstanding.
On February 7 and 14, four of the best universities show that they also have a talent for sport. You know what I`m getting at.
Known as "Boston`s social event of the winter season", the Beanpot 2011 is taking place soon. Harvard is playing versus Northeastern and Boston University versus Boston College on February 7. The final game is on February 14.
Get your tickets now to see how sporty our students really are. Right now, you can still get some good deals for this famous annual tournament at TD Garden.
