On Fenway

Fenway Park is America's Most Beloved Ballpark and home to Red Sox Nation. Of course, the Red Sox play countless games there from April until September (or October on good years). But the best thing about Fenway Park is the versatility. In the past few years, there have been a few exciting and unique events at Fenway. Although the season is winding down for the Red Sox now, let's look back at a few Fenway events that had nothing to do with baseball.

All Fenway fans know that "Sweet Caroline" is the anthem for Red Sox nation. Two years ago, I was lucky enough to go see Neil Diamond perform that very song at the park. The whole place was transformed, but the Red Sox spirit was still alive for young and old. Here is a video I took of the crowd's favorite, "so good! so good! so good!" included.

This past June, I attended "Football at Fenway" a soccer match between Celtic FC and Sporting Lisbon, two popular teams with rich histories in the European Cup Competitions. It was strange to see players running around out by the Green Monster. Since I didn't own a soccer jersey, I wore a green Red Sox shirt to the game to show my support for Celtic. I wasn't the only one with that idea! Celtic won and it was a great experience.

Of course, there are many other events throughout the year. As Jen said, the premiere of "The Town" was held at Fenway. Who could forget the 2010 NHL Winter Classic, where the Bruins played an ice hockey game against the Philadelphia Flyers. What's next for Fenway? Basketball? American Football? While I don't think that there are any plans for the Patriots or the Celtics to play at Fenway, you can always take a tour of the park. Tickets are only $12 for an adult and it's a great way to spend an afternoon, while you're waiting for the next big event at Fenway Park. Stay tuned to this blog, where you'll find out about all the latest events going on at Fenway and around Boston.
